‘Saint Mary’ star on Pune Filmfest jury

Shabnam Qolikhani has served as a member of the jury grid of Pune Int'l Film Festival in India.

Iranian actress Shabnam Qolikhani has served as a member of the jury grid of the 17th Pune International Film Festival in India.

The popular actress judged films submitted to the film festival, which ran in the Indian city of Pune from January 10 to17.

Other jury members hailed from India, Sweden, Italy, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Germany as well as the host country, organizers stated.

Qolikhani became a household name with the film ‘Saint Mary’ (2000) and her first small screen appearance was in ‘The First Night of Peace’ series in 2005.

She has also performed in the series ‘A Stairway to Heaven’, ‘The Fifth Sun’, ‘Ancient Land’ and ‘Five Kilometers from Heaven’, among others.

The 17th edition of the Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) hosted two Iranian films in the Asian Cinema and World Competition sections of the event.

Those films are ‘Amir’ by Nima Eghlima and ‘Sly’ by Kamal Tabrizi.   

The Pune International Film Festival was established in 2002. The aim is to attract the best in celluloid to the city.

Today, PIFF is an important date on the calendar for filmmakers not only across India, but the globe.
